June 18th

Nothing really very exciting to report. I received a free pass for the movie Eagle VS. Shark and enjoyed it very much. It was much like Napoleon Dynamite but less contrived somehow. Partly because the movie was made in New Zealand I guess. In fact it has a decidedly 'Canadian' feel to it. I would recommend it as a date movie for sure. the male lead is Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords fame. See them in action here.
As for my day to day life...I've been doing a lot of drawing. I've nearly filled two Moleskines since I began this whole 'spend nothing' thing. I won a membership to Videomatica's DVD delivery service so most of my evenings involve listening to a podcast and drawing or watching a movie and drawing. I should be reading more but I seem to only be doing that in the bathtub. We'll see if I make it through this month's book club book, "Full Tilt: Ireland to India With a Bicycle" by Dervla Murphy.

gone long time

Phew...it's been awhile. Sorry about that. I've been preparing for and going to my sister's wedding in Saskatchewan for the last couple of weeks.
All done now.
Unfortunately, I spent a whole bunch of money, mostly on my daughter, while I was away. She needed some new clothes and something to wear to the wedding. Darnit. Turns out that there are just things one can't really avoid spending money on. I suppose if I had been really creative I could have started a clothing donation drive before I left....or incorporated some savings into my monthly budget. Maybe I'm just not working hard enough at this. sigh. I'm not going to beat myself up about it. My 'journey' may not be book worthy but it'll still make a big chunk in my debt. I still think that spending nothing is a good lesson and something to strive for. I shall continue to do so.
On a happy note....two of my moleskin drawings can be seen on moleskiner.cn!
Oh yeah....I finally heard from the people at Scotiabank/TLC about my plane ticket. Looks like I'm off to LA for my birthday in July. I'm going to go just for the weekend and I've booked myself the company apartment so I shouldn't have to spend too much cash. Just food and drink...and maybe Disneyland tickets!
I'm so bad.
